Rockland cop indicted in six count indictment
NEW CITY – A Rockland County grand jury Wednesday indicted
Spring Valley Police Officer David Lebron on two felony counts and
four misdemeanors for allegedly tipping off establishments that
sold alcohol of impending police raids.
Lebron, 39, a 10-year veteran of the police department, is also
accused of drinking at bars while on duty and in uniform, for receiving
oral sex while on duty, improperly accessing Spring Valley PD records,
falsifying a daily activity report and a false civilian complaint
form.
District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said the alleged conduct continued
for about four years.
He was accused of warning the bars of raids, filing false reports
with the police department, observing criminal activity and taking
no action.
Lebron is also accused of providing protection for establishments
selling alcohol in Spring Valley, permitting the sale and use of
illegal drugs in his presence, and allowing a civilian to point
a weapon at the head of another person without taking action.
He was also charged with official misconduct for obtaining confidential
information from a police computer.
The officer is accused of committing the offenses between June 1,
2003 and February 28, 2007. He was charged with falsifying business
records in the first degree, offering a false instrument for filing
in the first degree, both felonies, and misdemeanors of conspiracy
in the fifth and sixth degrees and official misconduct.
