Murder conviction in fatal gang shooting
WHITE PLAINS – One of two men involved in the sidewalk shooting
death of a rival gang member was convicted Thursday.
Enric Devers, Jr., 18, of New Rochelle, was found guilty of second-degree
murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree
in connection with the fatal shooting of Reginald Rogers on a Mount
Vernon street on April 24, 2007.
Rogers, his girlfriend and another friend were walking toward Rogers’
home around 9 p.m. when Devers, Robert Lewis and another person
saw them on the opposite side of 4th Street.
Devers and Lewis were members of the Bloods and Rogers was a member
of the rival Crips gang.
The defendants approached Rogers and his girlfriend, the other person
had walked in another direction, with Lewis shooting him in the
shoulder, back and left thigh. As he lie on the sidewalk, Devers
shot him in the head.
The shooters were caught later by Mount Vernon Police.
Lewis pled guilty to second-degree murder earlier this year. When
sentenced in July, Devers faces 25 years to life in prison.
